The show of lights and fashion. The show of the most wanted ever. The show of expectations. The show forced happy feelings. The show of wonderful. The show of what you have and don't have at all to give and receive.
The show of materialism.
Because you won't offer feelings wrapped in paper. Because you will only care if it is cheap or expensive to offer to someone or someone else. Because you feel forced to. Because you only do it after people before you did it and showed you, you have to. Because you will feel bad at the end of the day if you didn't receive it. Because you will feel bad if you had a cheap gift.
Because you forget what matters not today, but all the year.
You can choose how WE build our future, you can decide whats good and whats wrong. You can see with your own eyes and, perhaps, heart what is a GIFT. A gift wrapped in paper or wrapped in hugs and smiles.

Our future today is material, you can keep it that way or change it.
Materialism death should draw near.

“Happy materialism day” – do you really believe that that is what birthdays are? From what you write, I can easily picture this greedy person wanting to have all these big presents – the more expensive the better. But you seem to forget the people who do “wrap feelings in paper”. Who takes the time to find just the right present – even if it's cheap or expensive. Who wants to see the smile of someone beloved. I see smiles and hugs as just as big a part of birthdays as materalistic gifts. Presents can of course not replace the love for ones family or friends, but I'm sure it is just another way of expressing ones feelings.
It's difficult not to be materialistic at all, are you not yourself? But birthdays are what you make them. And I see it as an special occasion for having a good time together - not more, not less.
Thanks for your comment ;)
Well... I just wanted to point the people "in it".
Happy 'cuz you seem to be "out of it". :)
Anyway to be honest it's hard for me to imagine feelings around some material stuff, specially, of course, on specific days where you are forced to offer and receive, as christmas and, as you said, on birthdays.
Appreciate your way of see it though ;)
